Workshop for Primary school teachers is completed - December 2014

Following the success of the workshop for teachers that took place at Oroklini last April, a second workshop was organised at the new facilities of the Akrotiri Environment and Information Centre on Thursday, 4 December (2014).

During the workshop, educators had the opportunity to receive valuable information and learn how to use the education material which was produced as part of the LIFE Oroklini Project. The education pack "Education material for Oroklini Lake" is addressed to primary school pupils (6 - 12 year old) and aims at raising awareness on the importance of Oroklini Lake as well as other conservation issues. The material included in the education pack (story, games and worksheets), is linked with the Curriculum of Environmental Education for Sustainable Development which officially applies in primary education and can also be applied in natural environments like Oroklini Lake.

The education pack was prepared by members of Frederick University Conservation Unit in collaboration with the Cyprus Pedagogical Institute and the Environment Department.

The education pack is available in electronic form as well and can be found under 'Deliverables' here.
