A documentary tribute to Oroklini Lake and its wildlife - January '14

In order to showcase the importance of Oroklini Lake and its rich wildlife, the Environment Department coordinated the production of a 15-minute documentary, as part of the LIFE Oroklini project, titled “Oroklini Lake – a wetland of Pan-European ecological importance”.

The filming lasted about a year in order to capture the changeable habitats of the lake throughout the seasons and various unique moments from life on the lake. Migratory birds, Spur-winged Lapwings grooming their chicks and Black-winged Stilts defending their nests, are only some of the unique wildlife images captured.

If you want to catch a glimpse of the bird diversity of the lake, its rare plants and watch the restoration works carried out within the framework of the LIFE Oroklini project watch the full documentary online.

The DVD will also be available at the information point soon to be built on site.
